Conclude Their First Camp... Graduating Activists in the Presence of Hashmiya

The associations "Beirut for Social Development" and "Emkan" concluded their first annual camp, graduating around 70 activists. The event was attended by the president of both associations, Mr. Ahmed Hashimiya, who handed the participants their certificates of participation and volunteer badges, emphasizing the importance of the role of young men and women in society, especially in developmental and social work. He stated, "You have become one family with the primary mission of serving the community and the Lebanese people in the public interest."

The camp lasted for four days at "Arsun Village," where the activists engaged in various lectures, activities, and games with several specialized trainers and instructors. The volunteers participated in numerous games and activities that strengthened their relationships and bonds.

The camp included volunteers from all regions of Lebanon, turning the camp into a place of cultural and experiential exchange.

The company "CREEL" honored Mr. Ahmed Hashmieh, President of the "Beirut Social Development" and "Emkan" associations, for his contributions and efforts across all Lebanese territories, especially in the North through the "Emkan" association. This took place as part of the "Tripoli Capital of Arab Culture" activities at the "Bishmalik Bhebbak" festival organized by the company at the "Rashid Karami International Fair," under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism in the caretaker government, Walid Nassar, and in the presence of ministerial, parliamentary, media, and union figures, as well as Tripoli dignitaries.

Emkan continues to enhance the agricultural market and center in Akkar.

As part of its role in improving the Akkar fruit and vegetable market and developing the Akkar Agricultural Center, the Emkan Association in the North, represented by Dr. Sandy Hallaq, Vice President of both the "Beirut for Social Development" and "Emkan" associations, along with Mr. Ahmed Hashmiyya, held a meeting with the representative and director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Lebanon, Abdullah Al Wardat. The meeting was attended by several stakeholders, coordinators, and activists. This meeting falls within the framework of enhancing and developing the Akkar market, and similarly for the center, aiming to transform it into a waste fermentation center, in addition to establishing an agricultural laboratory and a college.

The Emkan Association for Sustainable Development launched a first aid training course in the Koura region. The course aims to increase community awareness and preparedness for handling medical emergencies. The training included instructions and information on the following topics: first aid kit, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding, fractures, comas, choking, and burns.

As part of its humanitarian and social role, the Emkan Development Association provided a donation to Tripoli Governmental Hospital consisting of medicines and medical supplies needed by the hospital. The donation was presented in the presence of the hospital's director, Dr. Nasser Adra. Simultaneously, the association conducted a field tour to inspect the hospital's care center in order to explore how to provide necessary assistance and ways to support it.

Ahmed Hashimieh, President of the Emkan Association, visited Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Emkan Association for Sustainable Development and the Ministry. This agreement is in line with the Ministry of Agriculture's strategy for the years 2022 to 2025, particularly focusing on supporting coordination between various stakeholders from the private sector, local communities, associations, and bodies working on the development and improvement of Lebanese civil society. The memorandum aims to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and developing the agricultural sector.

The Emkan Association for Sustainable Development, led by its president Ahmed Hashimieh, donated two firefighting vehicles to the Union of Municipalities of Mount Akroum, with support from Prime Minister Saad Hariri and MP Mohammed Sleiman. During the visit, speeches were given expressing gratitude for the donation and highlighting the importance of supporting Mount Akkar's development. Hashimieh also announced various developmental projects for the region. The meeting concluded with a lunch hosted by the Union of Municipalities.

  The Eye Care Association, represented by its president Mr. Amir Abu Adileh, signed two cooperation agreements with the Beirut for Social Development Association and the Emkan Association, represented by their president Mr. Ahmed Hashimieh. The agreements entail organizing free eye examination campaigns titled "Eye on Beirut" and "Eye on the North" targeting 4800 students in Beirut and 2000 students in Tripoli, respectively. Beirut for Social Development Association will provide a Portable Autoref device and cover campaign costs in Beirut, while Emkan Association will provide a Slit lamp device and cover campaign costs in Tripoli. Mr. Amir Abu Adileh expressed gratitude to Mr. Ahmed Hashimieh for supporting associations, clubs, and family ties in Beirut and the North, hoping that these agreements will open opportunities for optometry students to participate in practical training through the eye examination campaigns, thereby contributing to Lebanon's scientific research and enhancing its reputation. Mr. Ahmed Hashimieh emphasized the importance of the agreements for Beirut and Tripoli and their students during Lebanon's economic crisis.

The Ministry of Agriculture, along with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Lebanese Development and Innovation Fund, laid the foundation stone for the "Development and Training Center - Agricultural Technology Laboratory" in Bekiva, Al-Kharoub region. Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan, alongside various officials and community leaders, attended the event. At the end of the ceremony, the Director-General of the organization, Professor Ibrahim Adam Dakheiri, presented shields of appreciation to Minister Hajj Hassan and Mr. Ahmed Hashimieh for their contributions.

Emkan Association launches a campaign to sanitize schools and places of worship in Koura under the title "We're with You."

In light of the difficult situation in Lebanon and the dire living conditions faced by citizens, especially amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Emkan Association has launched a sanitation campaign. The campaign aims to sanitize 30 public and private schools and 40 places of worship. This initiative is carried out by volunteers who have dedicated themselves to serving the people of Koura. The first day of the campaign kicked off in the town of Daddeh in Koura, where Daddeh Public School and kindergarten were sanitized.

In its commitment to the educational sector, the Emkan Association for Sustainable Development delivered two tons of diesel fuel to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Branch III, in Tripoli. This assistance came in response to the power outage affecting all departments of the college, which led to the suspension of exam correction processes and the issuance of exam results due to the university's recent difficulties in securing diesel fuel.

  Emkan Association for Sustainable Development, in coordination with the Faculty of Law at the Lebanese University - Branch III, initiated free transportation services for students residing in the areas of Minieh, Dennieh, and Akkar to reach the Lebanese University in Dahr El Ain, Koura, during the exam period. During a meeting between Emkan's coordinator in the North, Amin Baroudi, and the Director of the Faculty of Law at the Lebanese University - Branch III, Dr. Khalid Al-Khayr, they discussed strategies to support students throughout the academic year. Plans include compiling comprehensive data for all students residing in Minieh, Dennieh, and Akkar to study transportation costs and provide coverage. Additionally, they explored the possibility of the association covering registration fees for financially disadvantaged students who have applied for enrollment.

As per the directives of Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Mr. Ahmad Hashemiyeh, the Emkan Association erected several tents in the courtyard of Al Salam Hospital in Tripoli. These tents were set up to assist the families of the victims of the fuel tank explosion that occurred in the Tleil area of Akkar. Through these tents, field assistance is provided to the affected families.
